Emma Catling is the Malnutrition Strategic Lead at Hywel Dda University Health Board, a role she has held for the past four and a half years. Her work focuses on applying a whole-system approach, embedded with value-based health care, to tackling malnutrition across the Health Board. A registered dietitian with 28 years of experience working in Wales, Emma has worked across a range of clinical settings and served as the regional lead kidney dietitian for South West Wales Kidney Services for over two decades.
Emma also contributes to national strategy through her role on Bwrdd Cymru, supporting the British Dietetic Association in delivering its strategic objectives within Wales.
She recently completed an MSc in Advanced Health and Care Management at Swansea University, specialising in Value-Based Health Care. This work-based learning programme provided an opportunity to develop and implement prudent and value-based solutions that improve nutrition and hydration outcomes for both individual service users and the wider system.

Dr Matthew Lawrence is Deputy Head of TriTech and Innovation for Hywel Dda University Health Board, UK. He has over 15 years of experience working in medical research. Matthew’s main area of focus during his research career has been in translating knowledge and technical know-how from engineering and the physical sciences into advances in healthcare technology.
As part of his research, Matthew has worked within a clinical environment – bridging the gap between health, science, and engineering. His primary research focussed on developing new technologies for measuring haemostasis and blood flow in relation to health and disease, particularly in respect to how clotting characteristics are altered by treatment and disease progression in vascular inflammatory disease. As a result, he has authored a wide range of peer reviewed articles on several different disease states.
During his career, Matthew has developed expertise in study design, project management and statistical analysis. Furthermore, he has gained a strong understanding of the regulatory and governance processes in health research in the UK and is currently the Chairman of Health and Care Research Wales’ research ethics committee Wales REC 6.

Jennet was appointed to the role of Head of Innovation at Velindre University NHS Trust in June 2023. Her role provides a corporate function for innovation across the two divisions of the Trust, at the Velindre Cancer Centre and the Welsh Blood Service. Jennet’s role currently focusses on building the infrastructure for innovation, providing leadership and oversight for Innovation, as well as building the capability and capacity for innovation across the Trust. Jennet is also playing a lead role in establishing the New Collaborative Centre for Learning and Innovation.
Jennet’s previous post was at the Civil Service, as Head of Innovation for the Health and Social Services Group of Welsh Government. Jennet joined the Civil Service in 2013, leading on Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy strategy and then subsequently held key roles as Head of Compliance and Efficiency, Head of Transport, and COVID response roles, prior to returning to her substantive role as Head of Innovation.

Gareth has over 20 years of experience working with health information in Wales, in which he has headed up teams responsible for managing the development and maintenance of NHS Wales’ national data warehouse, currently hosted by Digital Health & Care Wales, and teams responsible for the analysis and publishing of NHS Wales data.
Gareth has used his background in statistics and research to support a number of major NHS Wales projects, including the South Wales Programme, the Welsh Ambulance Service’s Amber Review, and NHS Wales response to COVID, using a variety of advanced analytical techniques such as machine learning, modelling and simulation.
In addition, Gareth has been responsible for the development of a range of different record linkage algorithms, allowing NHS analysts to track patient (or citizen) journeys through the whole health system, whilst safeguarding patient confidentiality through techniques such as pseudonymisation. Gareth’s NHS number matching algorithm remains one of the cornerstones of Swansea University’s world-renowned SAIL databank.

Chris Emmerson is a Consultant in Public Health. He is co-lead of Public Health Wales’s national Tobacco, Vapes and Nicotine Addiction Programme and Chair of the Help Me Quit National Leadership Group in Wales. Chris works with smoking cessation, public health and policy leaders and practitioners in Government, Health Boards, primary care, academia and the third sector across Wales and the UK. He has a particular interest in development and deployment of digital solutions to enable population behaviour change in Wales.
Chris is co-Chair of the Faculty of Public Health’s Smoking and Vaping Special Interest Group, Board member of the UK Public Health Register and holds an Honorary Tutor post within the School of Medicine at Cardiff University.

Sarah Beauclerk is the founder and director of Vere Experiences CIC, a Welsh creative technology social enterprise based in Pembrokeshire. She works at the intersection of immersive technology, clinical care, and creative imagination — building experiences to support mood, pain management, care at home, and procedural support, with a focus on supporting better outcomes and quality of life for groups at risk of isolation. Her work spans older adults, young people, unpaid carers, palliative care, mental health, and community wellbeing. CarerVR, developed in partnerships led by Public Health Wales, brings immersive experience to unpaid carers. Her flagship programme Ffynhonnell (Wellspring), funded by Contracts for Innovation, became an MHRA-registered Class I immersive medical device in April 2026, and is being rolled out in collaboration with GP surgeries and Women’s Health Hubs. Vere’s on-the-ground team and partners are supported by Ysbryd — a bilingual AI presence built from within the organisation itself.

Dr Daniel Harris has over 20 years’ experience in clinical pharmacy practice. He has recently been appointed as a clinical academic at Hywel Dda University Health Board, Wales and as an Honorary Associate Professor in Pharmacoepidemiology at Swansea University. His clinical and scientific interests are focussed on cardiovascular risk detection and management. He is currently delivering a research program using population health care data to inform and test the delivery of optimal risk factor management in patients with or at high risk of cardiovascular disease.

Megan has a MSc in Biomedical Engineering (University of Surrey), a degree in Mechanical Engineering (Bradford University), is a Registered Clinical Scientist. Since joining the NHS she gained experience in equipment management and rehabilitation engineering before moving to CEDAR and developing expertise in health technology assessment and health economics. Megan leads CEDAR’s health economic workstream, with a key role in CEDAR’s work for the NICE for over 15 years, covering more than 20 topics. Megan also leads health economic analysis for clinical trials, local and national service evaluations, and emerging medical technologies.
